For Children
Traditionally ears were pierced by roadside vendors or family jeweler who use crude instruments and even inset twigs of nee mot thulsi plant.
It is best to avoid people who do not have proper equipment or staff trained to pierce your ears. Ensure that the piercing is done in hygienic conditions, so do check the hygiene levels at the doctor\’s clinic.
Procedure

Using ear piercing gun (see pictures and video clip)
The piercing is done at centre of the ear lobe, avoiding the nerve and cartilage. An experienced doctor will be able to locate this spot easily.

Aftercare
Here are some things to keep in mind:
and Do not remove the stud/wire during the healing phase as the punctured area may be sealed as well.
and Use any pain relief medication and Neosporin® eye ointment to be applied locally before and after bath for a week.
and Take special care when bathing or changing your baby – the back of the earring should not get caught in her clothing or towel. Keep the area dry and clean.
and Watch out for tell tale signs of an infection – the earring sticks to skin, swelling, redness, fever, foul smelling fluid or pus oozing from the pierced site and any skin rashes. In case you suspect an infection go to the doctor.
and Choose simple earrings and change the stud after 2-3 weeks once the tract is well formed.
