It is an iron molecule, a polymer of Polyacrylic acid with a molecular weight 100,000.It is safe to use as it is not absorbed into blood stream, acting locally forming a polymer with albumin in blood.It has got antibacterial, antifungal and hygroscopic properties too. It is good in packing the nose for epistaxis.
