If your Email got hacked: What to Do? Lessons learned
Last 24 hrs I was busy dealing with correcting my “hacked email disorder”. I thought I will share my experience.
My Yahoo Id got hacked 2 days ago….
This is what I learned from my bad experience after my yahoo id got hacked 2 days ago when one fake “Yahoo” look like update your details email page came up and asking me to update all the information, if not the account will be dormant etc…, without looking at the URL, I got in to the trap by giving all details. It was some fastbug.com URL. .something like that. In case of suspicious mail, please check URL.
First fake messages went around telling that me and wife got mugged in Spain etc.
Few of my friends called me immediately and alerted.
My son took the initiative and informed the Yahoo customer care and got the address book which the hacker deleted after sending the fake mails.
I informed the Cyber crime and cyber cell department immediately
I changed the passwords everywhere. Cancelled the Yahoo Id and registered the gmail id which I already is using.
I kept a copy of the address book of contacts, so I could inform as many people as I can after hacking.
Please be cautious when you get unfamiliar suspicious email and always check the URL before opening.
Here on, please update my address as I am not using firstname.lastname@example.org any more.
It was a wretched thing to happen, it can happen to any one.
