Physical and Spiritual Healing by the Eucharist.
Every day at 6AM Holy Mass is celebrated in the Jubilee hospital chapel and everyone is welcome to attend .The staff, patients and their relatives all try to attend this service. Patients unable to attend the service are given Holy Eucharist in their room. This has a major role in the healing profession undertaken by the management.
As a practicing catholic surgeon in healing profession I\’ve always wondered about the significance of the power of Holy Eucharist in healing process of body and soul.
About Spiritual and Physical Healing
Physical healing and spiritual healing are both important, because every individual consists of two parts within their being. They have body and soul; or, mostly they are called as physical and spiritual parts. It is important to create balance in your life by nurturing your whole person, which includes spiritual, mental, emotional, and physical needs.
God’s love for us is poured out in the sacrament of the Eucharist, where Christ is truly present for us, giving us life and healing.
When we think about it, every Eucharist is a healing celebration. In it we receive the Lord Jesus. We are transformed by Him, and we let Him meet us in our needs. In every Mass, we celebrate God’s love for us. With the priest we offer ourselves in sacrifice, giving thanks to the Father, through Jesus, our great High Priest, in the power of the Holy Spirit. It is He who makes us a community who worships God in Spirit and Truth.
God heals a person in two ways:
1. Healing through the miraculous power of Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is the Giver of life. The Spirit is also the sustainer of life, the breath-Prana- you keep drawing in as long as you’re alive. Just as the Spirit can heal your soul, the Spirit can work within you to heal your body.
2. Healing through total faith in the Word of God. This is the living word of God, it has Life (energy), power to heal, power to protect, power to redeem. When we have faith, we allow God\’s Will to become substance and reality in our lives.
Healing process
I also realize that while we work on increasing and strengthening our faith and await healing in our body or mind, I have to repent for my sins and forgive those who have hurt us. We have to make the Sacrament of Reconciliation for this Grace when necessary; during mass we say the “I Confess” and “Lord Have Mercy”.
Can Eucharist has the power to heal sickness
Yes they can! What medical treatment cannot do, Jesus can do with the power of the Holy Spirit. Our God is a God of Hope!
“…..but only say Your Word and I shall be healed.”
