Dirofilariasis is the disease caused by Dirofilaria worm infections (heartworm disease) and is caused by D. immitis or repens.
Patients infected with Dirofilaria notice subcutaneous lump in the affected area which most commonly includes; face and conjunctiva of the eye and sometimes chest wall, upper arms, thighs, abdominal wall and male genitalia.
Here such a facial lump is excised by Caldwel luc sublabial approach.
(Histopathology examination confirms Dirofilaria)
