believed to be the basic sound of the world and to contain all other sounds. It is a mantra or prayer in itself. If repeated with the correct intonation, it can resonate throughout the body so that the sound penetrates to the centre of one’s being, the atman or soul.

Ohm is the one eternal syllable of which all that exists -The past, the present, and the future are all included in this one sound, and all that exists beyond the three forms of time is also implied in it. It is called pranava, to mean that it pervades life and runs through our prana or breath.

The Divine law of vibration states that nothing rests, everything moves, everything vibrates. The lower the vibration, the slower the vibration; the higher the vibration the faster the vibration.

The philosophical and scientific basis for this law can be found in quantum physics and in Einstein\’s Theory of Relativity. It can also be found in such ancient philosophies as the Vedas, which are the most ancient scriptures of India, as well as in the Gospel according to John, which reads, ‘In the beginning was the Word\’ – the vibration of sound.
