After Parotid surgery the patient is moved to the Post op ward where vital signs are monitored.The integrity of facial nerve is checked as soon as the patient is awake.Immediate postoperative complications of superficial parotidectomy include:
Hemorrhage i.e pooling of blood in the wound cavity (hematoma); numbness around the ear and temporary facial weakness. A redivac drain is inserted into the area which is removed the next day.
