3D CT Inner ear findings in an 8 year old child with vertigo.
Inner ear: Vestibule show normal size and morphology on both sides. Bilateral vestibular and cochlear aqueduct appears normal. Normal fluid is seen in vestibule/ media. Focal partial stenosis of mid portion of bilateral superior and right posterior semicircular canals noted. Thin to absent bony covering of bilateral superior and left posterior semicircular canal noted. Rest of the semicircular ducts have normal size and shape on both sides. Cochlea show normal size and morphology with normal basal, second and apical turns on both sides.
IAM: Bilateral internal auditory canals show normal diameter. No evidence of stenosis or mass lesion.
Facial nerve: Bilateral facial nerves and its bony canals show normal course and caliber.
Round and oval window: Appear normal and pattern.
Tegmen tympani, petrous apex and carotid canal are normal.
Asymmetrically enlarged right jugular bulb extending upto the level of internal auditory canal noted consistent with high riding bulb. No evidence of jugular diverticulum. Left jugular bulb appear normal.
