Surgery used in the diagnosis and removal of various lesions of the vocal folds to restore a normal voice is known as microlaryngoscopy. In microlaryngoscopy, a microscope is used to examine, biopsy and operate on the vocal folds while images are being recorded. Any specimen obtained is send for biopsy to rule out malignancy.
Microlaryngoscopy Laryngeal microsurgery is removal of abnormal tissue from the vocal folds (cords) using precision microlaryngeal instruments and/or laser. Microlaryngeal surgery are performed to address disorders of the larynx. These procedures can biopsy, remove or augment abnormal areas in the throat. Under general anesthesia, a scope is gently inserted into the throat through the mouth. A microscope and long, fine instruments are used to perform the surgery.
