Post op care after cosmetic surgery of nose.
Jubilee Hospital, Trivandrum.
Injections of Dexamethasone, antibiotics and pain killers are given at night. Early morning after having breakfast you will be shifted to the room. You will be given soft diet in the evening and normal breakfast the next day.

A small thermoplastic splint will be placed on your nose. This splint\’s purpose is to protect your nose and to keep it stable for at least five to seven days. I use Merocel nasal packing to help reduce bleeding. A silastic intranasal splint is kept for a week if septoplasty is also done along with Rhinoplasty.
Some mild to moderate discomfort after surgery is common. This is usually controlled with prescribed pain killers. Most people are able to stop taking pain medication within 48 hours of their Rhinoplasty.
You may also feel extremely stuffed-up after nose surgery. Decongestants may help relieve your stuffiness.
There will be some bruising and swelling in the days and weeks after your nose surgery. You may even develop two black eyes. Try applying cold compresses on the sore areas.
The patients are discharged the next day and be seen after a week in the clinic for removal of sutures and splints.
Be careful to avoid any trauma to your nose after your Rhinoplasty. This means no contact sports, and you should be careful around small children or pets that may move suddenly when in close proximity. If you are not sure if an activity is permitted, ask your surgeon for guidance.
You can likely return to work within 10 days after your Rhinoplasty.
