The possible complications after surgery in snoring and sleep apnea is explained. The complications of snoring and sleep apnea, if untreated is also mentioned.
Any Complications?
The complication rate in my experience over the last 3 decades was extremely low (less than 1%) and similar to that reported by many experienced surgeon dealing with Snoring and OSA.
Post Op pain in the throat was the most common side effect. No significant bleeding was encountered. The complications of nasal regurgitation, nasopharyngeal stenosis and voice change did not occur, although they have been described by others.
Dryness of throat for few months seen in cases of LAUP. A function of the uvula is to sweep mucus from the back of the throat and some patients have complained temporarily of an irritable throat due to the loss of this action.
