True Cross refers to the actual cross used in the Crucifixion of Jesus. Today, many fragments of wood are claimed as True Cross relics, but in most cases it is hard to establish their authenticity.
As far as I know it was left there and then rediscovered in 326 by Constantine’s mother Queen Helena when she visited the Holy Land.. There is now (and has been there for centuries) apparently a small fragment of ancient wood that is highly guarded and kept under wraps in a church in Rome.
Fragments of the True Cross still exist in many Roman Catholic churches in Europe.
Is this pieces of the Cross really are of any significance?. What is important, what is vital, is Christ’s sacrifice on that Cross for our own salvation. If one is too taken with searching out inanimate relics one can sometimes overlook just what he did for us.
What is more important is your faith of his death on the cross for your salvation.
