Adhesions after nasal surgery are a potential cause of surgical failure. A less frequent complication of nasal surgery is the development of post-operative adhesions, which may cause more nasal obstruction even after surgery.
To prevent post-operative bleeding and adhesion formation, nasal packing is often used. In addition to nasal packing intranasal splints made of silastic material is used. In olden days X-ray plates and wax papers were used. The Intranasal splits are sutured and kept in place for a week. It is removed in the out patient clinic after one week .
