Surgical treatments for snoring and obstructive sleep apnea include several different techniques for removing tissue from the back of the patient\’s throat, reshaping the nasal passages or preventing the tongue from blocking the airway during sleep. In children the best surgical treatment is removing enlarged tonsil and adenoid.
Before taking up a patient for surgical treatment , a detailed history from patient and the relative or spouse is obtained. A complete ENT examination is carried out in the Clinic. Then other tests like blood work up, ECG,X-ray chest, CT/MRI Imaging and most important Sleep study. Sleep Study (Polysomnogram PSG ) can be done at home, it is called Home Sleep Study and it is very reliable and comfortable for patients. The Patient must be evaluated by the anesthetist and a cardiologist before taking up for Surgery- Laser or RF Coblator.
